Material: Colorado Pink Alabaster with Texas Cordova Cream Shell Limestone for the base
Year: 1991
This was one of my first carvings that I ever made. I sculpted it while taking a class through The Laguna Gloria Museum of Art in Austin, Texas. My instructor Mary Paige Huey (who was a student of Charles Umlauf) introduced me to pneumatic air hammers and chisels which made carving stone much more efficient and fun. This sculpture ultimately helped me get accepted into the Southwest Texas State University fine arts program in San Marcos, Texas(now Texas State University).
